Going into this assignment I thought of the advice Dr. Ownby gave each of us in class: “photograph something you’re passionate about. Something that holds meaning to you”. When I thought of events in Pocatello that mean the most to me, the first thing that came to mind was ISU football games.
Football games have always been events that I relate back to my childhood. My most vivid memories are my whole family piled in the living room, plates on their laps, watching the super bowl with pure intent of screaming at the TV the whole entire game.
Football season is something I look forward to the most when coming back to ISU each fall. Here are some of my favorite photos that I think tell the story of what Bengal football means to me.
Idaho State vs Eastern Washington

Holt arena is where students, alumni, faculty and family meet to cheer on our orange and black. Holt Arena opened it’s doors in 1970, originally named the ASISU Minidome. Holt’s record attendance was 13,895 people on November 22, 1980; when Idaho State University played Boise State.

This photo features Idaho State’s proud mascot, Benny the Bengal, as he throws foam footballs to the roaring crowd.

Students cheer as ISU makes a remarkable play. One of the unique things about sitting in the student section at Idaho State is that fans are provided with different noise makers before each game. This makes every ISU football game a little more exciting.

Idaho State Cheerleaders hype up the team as we rally in the second quarter. The best thing about ISU cheer is that they join students in the stands and cheer with them throughout the game.

Sagen Gronaur (#16) makes a pivotal pass for the Bengals. This photo represents the vital roles of every position on the field. Jacob Molenaar (#75) and Jacob Angel (#74) work tirelessly to protect their quarterback from Eastern Washington’s defense.
