Victoria’s Secret © Sarah Green 2019

This is the final image I created for our still life assignment. The story I was trying to convey is the scene at the end of a Victoria’s Secret Angel fashion show. The wings have been shed, the pearls are unclasped, and let’s be honest, the best part of the day is when the bra comes off. The gold coins are a hint to the bottle’s name: gold. I chose this angle because I thought it showed the bottle’s shape well, and I liked how the angle wing peaked out on the side.

This second image I went back and forth on deciding for it to be the final or not. I thought maybe it was too busy and the bottle didn’t stand out as much, or the feathers being held down by the gold coins weren’t very professional. However, I did like playing with different angles and seeing how the words or the shape of the bottle was altered.

The most difficult part of this shoot was making sure the gold lettering stood out but didn’t reflect too much light and distracted the viewer from the story. If I were shooting this for a magazine ad the words “Victoria’s Secret Angel” would have to be perfectly visible and the name of the scent would have to be sharp.

Kylie Greenwell helped me out behind the scenes by wrangling the feathers in place because of the air vent blowing down on the set. Thanks to her, every prop was kept in place and the scene turned out beautiful.

Our set consisted of a seamless black backdrop, a table, and the props I brought. For lighting we used two light stands with soft boxes attached. This diffused light created a nice looking shape of the bottle and helped the gold lettering be reflected nicely.
